Virginia was my best childhood friend. Her parents, Posey & Bess Holbrook (Bess worked in the office at Banks), were my second parents. Her sisters, Juanita and Linda, were always welcoming and I considered them friends also.
I was lucky enough that I was in Birmingham visiting my parents the day before Virginia died. Her son, James Sherer, spent a good part of the day with us telling tales and laughing. Virgina drove me around all our old haunts and we spent the rest of the day & evening talking about our children and Jesus. Virginia was a devoted christain. I drove to Georgia the next morning, Sunday, for my daughters Vespers ceremony. As we returned to our hotel room, Tom ( my husband) said I don't know how to say this, but Virginia had died at church this morning. The next morning I drove by to Birmingham to stay for her funeral. I was blessed that Posey & Bess asked me to do her eulogy. I saw many of our Banks classmates and teachers there. {Mrs. Hatch said she would know me anywhere...I took that as a compliment!). I visited wth her folks one other trips to Birmingham and enjoyed visiting with them and talking about our lives in the past and present. They are both deceased now.

I still think of her, love her and miss her.
